Solar Contract Review: What to Check
A solar contract review compares your signed documents, sales representations, payment obligations, and project history to identify questions that need resolution. Solar EXIT IQ offers an initial information review through its qualification assessment; it is not a law firm and does not provide legal interpretation or representation.

What happens in a solar contract review?
A review organizes the agreement, financing, payment, performance, ownership, notice, and property terms into one timeline. The useful first step is gathering the signed documents and records that explain what was promised, what was delivered, and what remains disputed. The review provides information, not legal advice or a guaranteed outcome.

A useful solar contract review compares all signed agreements with funding, billing, project and sales records. The checklist below helps identify missing documents without uploading them or deciding your legal rights.
Start with a complete document set
Include the proposal, purchase or lease agreement, PPA if applicable, financing disclosures, change orders, cancellation forms, warranties, and any settlement already offered. A summary page cannot replace the full agreement. Label unsigned proposals separately from executed versions and note missing exhibits. Keep original files so the sequence and dates remain available.
Read money and performance terms together
Record total price, amount financed, interest terms, payment changes, escalators, and any assumed prepayment. Then identify the equipment specification, production estimate, written guarantee, exclusions, and service responsibilities. A savings forecast is not necessarily a guaranteed bill amount. Mark the exact pages that support what you understood you were buying.
Review the clauses that govern the next step
Find notice addresses, dispute procedures, opportunity-to-cure provisions, arbitration terms, assignment rights, transfer conditions, and removal duties. Put approaching deadlines at the top of your summary. An information review does not pause these deadlines. Include disputed terms and relevant notices in your qualification assessment. Solar EXIT IQ can help organize the facts and documents for review; it does not provide legal advice or legal representation.
Make the review usable
Prepare a one-page chronology with dates, company names, the specific problem, what has already been requested, and the result you want. Redact unrelated sensitive identifiers before sharing documents through an appropriate channel. The existing qualification form gathers basic facts; follow the team’s instructions for any later document exchange instead of putting full financial identifiers in the narrative fields.
What documents should you gather before requesting a review?
Solar contract document checklist
A preparation aid for identifying missing records—not an exhaustive acceptance requirement or a legal review. Collect only items relevant to your matter.

Check marks are temporary and clear when the page reloads. Keep originals; redact account numbers and unrelated personal information before sharing a copy.
Start with the executed version rather than an unsigned quote. If something is missing, mark it unknown and request it from the named party. Keep a redacted working copy and preserve complete originals separately. These records help organize a review; they are not a promise that a matter will be accepted or resolved.
Your next-step checklist
- Collect complete executed documents and relevant proposals.
- Highlight money, performance, cancellation, and dispute clauses.
- Build a dated timeline with supporting records.
- List unresolved questions and any urgent deadlines.
- Complete the qualification assessment with accurate, limited information.
