Solar Contract Cancellation Resources
Use this resource hub to understand solar cancellation, compare exit options, prepare a contract review, and find guidance for loans, leases, PPAs, installer problems, and state-specific questions.
Where should I start with a solar contract cancellation question?
Start with the signed agreements and a timeline of sales, installation, funding, payments, notices, and unresolved issues. The available path may involve a cancellation clause, cure request, dispute, transfer, buyout, warranty, or professional advice. These resources explain terms and preparation steps without promising a legal result.
Start with your immediate question, then use the supporting checklist or article. These guides explain document preparation and potential paths; they do not promise cancellation or replace advice about an individual legal deadline.

Choose your existing state guide. These references distinguish document requirements and agency roles; they are not a state-by-state service eligibility determination. Sources verified October 3, 2026. For another state, begin with your signed notice and the cancellation request guide. Ask the relevant state agency or qualified counsel which rules apply to your transaction. Use these definitions to identify the question you need answered. A term alone does not establish a right or a remedy. Ending an agreement and exercising an applicable rescission right are not interchangeable labels. Identify the covered agreement, transaction facts and notice rules. Cancellation terminology A proposed ending under a clause or resolution; verify what obligations survive and which parties agree. Compare exit routes A proposed purchase can transfer equipment ownership. Ask for the price, effective date and ownership/warranty documents. Buyout versus cancellation Paying charges early need not transfer ownership or end an agreement. Confirm what remains. Lease proposal comparison A new party may take obligations only under the applicable acceptance/approval terms. Verify the prior customer’s release. Home-sale transfer packet A stated amount to satisfy a balance under specified quote conditions; it is separate from confirmation of a recorded release. Filing-release questions A recorded security-interest notice must be read for its collateral, parties and jurisdiction; it is not automatically a mortgage lien. Identify the actual filing A change in priority may be requested in a transaction; it is distinct from extinguishing the obligation or filing. Closing-document questions Property Assessed Clean Energy financing can involve a property-tax assessment. Identify the actual program and recorded obligation. Financing records Utility authorization is a distinct project record from physical installation or local inspection. Utility approval records A price difference needs matched quotes and itemization before its nature can be identified. Price comparison example A contractual rate/payment increase formula. State the starting rate, anniversary timing and calculation assumptions. PPA rate calculator A payment recalculation should be compared with the executed terms, balance and applied payments. Payment-reset records The party administering an account may differ from the original lender or installer. Verify a servicing change in writing. Support and role reference Coverage depends on who owes it, covered work/components, exclusions, dates and any transfer conditions. Warranty records Definitions describe document-review tasks; underlying rights depend on the applicable agreement and law. See each linked guide’s official sources.State solar document reference
